Open Days in LafargeHolcim’s quarry Le Fieu in France
September 21 - September 22
The LafargeHolcim’s French quarry located in Le Fieu (Aquitaine) will host scolar groups and general public September 21 and 22.
This alluvial quarry produces 400,000 tons of gravel and sand per year. The material is used in the construction sector mainly for the production of ready-mix concrete and precast concrete. This very high performance building material is used in our daily life from infrastructure to housing construction.
The Le Fieu quarry is committed to environmental continuous progress through the National Quarry Sector Environmental Charter and LafargeHolcim’s environmental and biodiversity policies.
The site has been revamped in 2013 and special attention has been paid to water management with – for instance – close loops for some water stream in order to improve resource efficiency.
The two Open days will be the opportunity for our stakeholders to know more about aggregate and quarry operations but also to discover how aggregate producers became experts on biodiversity and environment or archeology ! Drones will be involved !
All tours are guided and free.
