Welcomed by the European Commission
“The European Minerals Day is an excellent way to inform, educate and enthuse European citizens about the importance of the minerals sector in providing raw materials that are essential for so many everyday products. The sector is vital to Europe’s competitiveness and its success is built on sound principles of sustainability and innovation.” (European Commission, Raw Material Initiative, 2008)
In 2013, the European Mineral Days (24-26 May) will be used as one of the channels to raise awareness of the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) on Raw Materials. By creating synergies with the European Minerals Day, the European Commission seeks to “create momentum about the necessity to join forces to Europe’s potential in innovation for Raw Materials” .
